From April 7 to 11, 2025, Professor Fábio Luciano Verdi, head of the LERIS laboratory at UFSCar, participated in a technical mission to Ericsson’s global headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, as part of the ongoing collaboration within the CPE SMARTNESS project. The delegation also included Professors Christian Esteve Rothenberg and Luiz Fernando Bittencourt (UNICAMP), and researcher Maria Valéria Marquezini (Ericsson Research Brazil).
Throughout the week, the group engaged in a comprehensive agenda of technical meetings and strategic discussions with Ericsson Research teams. Topics explored during these sessions included Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Computing, and Software, aligning directly with the core research areas of the SMARTNESS project and the LERIS lab.
As part of the visit, the delegation also had the opportunity to tour the Ericsson Imagine Studio, an innovation space that showcases cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of communication and information systems.
The visit served as an important milestone for strengthening the partnership between academia and industry. It fostered knowledge exchange, alignment of ongoing research, and dialogue about future cooperation opportunities, reinforcing LERIS’s role in high-level international research collaborations.
